Hiking at Lake Maria

Earlier this spring Todd took the boys to Lake Maria state park to watch a demo on making syrup. A lot of the park was closed due to high water but he thought it would be a great place to check out.
So on a nice warm day we headed to Lake Maria. One of the main reasons we wanted to go was to look at their camper cabin and campsites. The whole park was open when we got there, so we started hiking. We had never really done anything like that before so it was very interesting! It was beautiful walking through the woods. You will see some pictures of a woodpecker that was right above us and a very cute inch worm that was walking by as we were eating our snack. When we saw the sign for turtle crossing Wyatt said, "Now there's something you don't see every day!".
Also, there is a picture of the boys poking around in a pond which when we asked what was all over the pond Jaxon declared,"Algae." Where do they learn this stuff? The campsites and camper cabin were wonderful, I hope we will be able to stay at the park some night this summer!
